The Position:
DC Scholars Public Charter School is seeking a Behavior Tech for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. This individual is responsible for serving as the first responder for student culture behavioral support including implementing individualized behavior intervention plans and strategies to promote positive behavior and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students with behavioral challenges in various settings such as classrooms, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and other school environments.
- Utilize evidence-based behavior management techniques and strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote positive behavior.
- Collect and record data on student behavior to monitor progress and effectiveness of interventions through use of our behavior management systems.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel to implement consistent strategies and interventions.
- Provide support during crisis situations, including implementing de-escalation techniques as necessary.
- Support student culture procedures and routines including Big 5 (arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and transitions).
- Assist with data analysis of student attendance and regularly communicate with families regarding student attendance data.
- Assist in the development and implementation of behavior support plans, including providing input on student progress and response to interventions.
- Communicate regularly with school culture leaders, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in behavior management and intervention techniques.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations regarding student privacy and confidentiality

Experience
- High School diploma or the equivalent with passing paraprofessional exam scores
- Experience with children in a public or public charter school, preferred
- Practical knowledge of educational methods and behavioral technique
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel and Word

Salary Details
The salary range for this role is $45,000 to $65,000 annually in alignment with the DC Scholars Behavior Technician salary band and our compensation philosophy. Starting salaries for new hires will be determined based on a combination of the new hire's relevant experience and market demands.
